Our Story
Trinity's Slam Poetry Club was founded in 2021 by a group of 6 friends and students sharing a common interest, poetry. After joining Trinity for their studies, these 6 friends were disappointed to discover that there wasn't a school society for poetry enthusiasts to share their passion for this craft. Therefore, the group was determined to start their own club.
One of the group's members being passionate about performing his poetry in front of crowds, the idea of creating a slam poetry club quickly came to light. Hence, Trinity's Slam Poetry Club was officially founded on the 4th of February 2021 and the rest is history!
Our Mission
Our mission with this club is to encourage students to express themselves, both through words and emotions, and inspire others to do so as well. We believe slam poetry is more than a performance, it's an art, in which the artist can show his true self and shares his feelings without the fear of being judged.
Our weekly events and workshops make us one of the most active clubs in Trinity College Dublin and the BEST club to meet people and make friends! The TCD Slam Poetry Family is always growing and we are always eager to introduce new members to the craft that has driven us for years.

Our Team

YOUSSEF
Hello fellow readers! My name is Youssef, I’ve been managing Slam Poetry Club’s financials since its creation. Compared to my colleagues, my responsibilities can be quite boring. However, by efficiently managing the club’s spending and budget, we are able to afford creating events and activities for all of us slam poetry enthusiasts to enjoy!
If you have any enquiries on sponsoring or donations to support our club, you can contact me personally on financial@tcdslampoetry.ie.

JOHANNA
Heya! My name is Johanna and I’ve been with the Slam Poetry Club since the start. If you follow us on Twitter (which you definitely should, might I add), then you’ve heard from me before since I make sure that we’re on your feed every. single. day. I love sharing our poems of the day with you, inform you about our upcoming events and push you to get creative! Slam poetry is my way to visualise my thoughts and feelings, so I hope that I can inspire you to do the same.

YILIN
Hi everyone! I’m Yilin and it’s been one year since I joined Slam Poetry Club. I’ve been hosting Open Mic Nights for 5 months and it is a pleasure to meet you all. Open Mic Nights have always been our exciting and magic moments. It is my job to make sure that our Open Mic Nights go smoothly and everything flows well. Also, keeping the atmosphere on fire is my priority. Our team is looking forward to having great events with you! Kevin Hart is my favorite stand-up comedian, his videos really make my day.

KÜBRA
Hello everyone! I'm Kübra. I'm in my second year at Slam Poetry Club. I am the club's event manager and I am responsible for contacting your favorite poets and organizing events with them. If a poet you love is coming to town and you want to host them in our school; or if there is a workshop you want to organize, don’t hesitate to contact me! I am always ready to brainstorm and exchange ideas! My favorite slam poetry artist is Tonya Ingram, check her out, you won't regret it!

MARCO
Hey everyone! I’m Marco and I joined the TCD Slam Poetry Club last year. Right now I’m one of the content writers of the team, so if you like the emails from our newsletter… Well, I’m responsible for those! I like Slam Poetry because it allows you to express yourself freely, I love it the most when it’s also funny and makes you laugh. Favourite slam poetry artist/stand up comedian? The one and only, Ricky Gervais!

JEREMY
Hello fellow slam poetry enthusiasts, my name is Jeremy and I am the webdesigner for the Slam Poetry Club. I also work on content production with Marco. I joined the club this year and I already feel like I am a part of the Slam Poetry Family here in Trinity! When joining the club, I was an absolute beginner in Slam Poetry, but through the club's workshops and events, I quickly became much more confident with performing and I am now obsessed with it. Dylan Garity is without a doubt my favorite Slam Poet.
